In the 80s, I believe the NPA had an assasination unit (Sparrow unit ba to?) designated to terminate those they believe to be on the wrong.

If I remember it correctly, back then, you don't see policemen showing off they were policemen (the way we see a lot of cars/motorcycles these days using PNPA/PNP stickers/plates, including of course the famous "MAYOR" or whathaveyou gov't plates that I still see on the streets even if the president didn't want them around, etc.) as anybody in public service were potential targets.

So yeah, restoring checks and balances in the country might be a good try again?

On the more humane side of things, we actually have the medium already to implement a full transparency gov't through Facebook or any other website (but Facebook is free and everyone uses ((we are the social media capital on this planet afterall)) it so I have to single it out).

I believe the FOI bill can help in implementing something like every gov't body, from the smallest LGU, to the top should openly/publicly put whatever money they get on their respective Facebook pages for all constituents to see.

If there's a plan to use such money, then it should also be posted. Maybe even hold a "survey" on where the constituents want the money to be used if the money isn't appropriated for a particular project yet which is of course very unlikely.

When the money is disbursed, it should then be shared.

Every single transaction, all in the Facebook page open for everyone to see.

Of course if someone uses the same for their own misleading/propaganda moves, they should be easily punished as well since evidence is wide open.
