A California-based software/web development startup is planning to expand here in Cebu and is in need of designers and developers. The founders are my previous colleagues from a previous company that I worked remotely for.

For designers:
1. Proficiency in Photoshop/Illustrator/Sketch
2. Or, proficiency in converting Photoshop/Illustrator/Sketch mockups to responsive HTML/CSS.
* You should be great with either 1 or 2, or preferably both.

For developers:
* Proficiency in at least two of the following: Python/Django, Ruby on Rails, PHP (Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter, etc.), NodeJS, etc.
* This is a polyglot company. They use whatever stack or technology that best fits the needs of the project. Familiarity with different technologies is highly preferable.
* Willingness and ability to learn new stuff is highly preferable.

The pay is quite great compared to most web development companies here in Cebu. And you get to work at home and have flexible working hours.

I don't think they care much about whether you graduated or not. Previous projects matter more and will assess you from there.

Tips to jobseekers:

To look/sound/appear more professional and more credible:
* Use PDF for your resume not Word documents. Word can convert it to PDF.
* Don't put pictures, religion, birthplace, etc. US companies shouldn't discriminate based on those info.
* Don't put weight, height, vital statistics. We definitely want some pretty girls to join us but brains come before beauty.
* Put your projects, skills, and experience first before your educational ones. The educational attainment section is usually irrelevant if you have significant experience and skills already.
* Links to your previous projects are very important.

These tips are not only for us but for most other companies as well. I got these tips from a blog article written by a recruiter. So far, it worked for me.
