SONY DVD/CD-RW CANNOT READ

hey guys i own a SONY DVD/CD-RW DRIVE on my laptop, my problem is the drive recently can't read any cd, i mean from games to other cd's, the drive lights up when u up a cd inside it, and the cursor on desktop animates, but when u click the SONY DVD/CD-RW its blank inside.

I remove it from the device manager, and rebooted, it got detected and installed again so i dont think its the drive itself, what seems to be the problem?

My problem also is my laptop is optimized for Windows XP Home Edition, i tried installing on a pc before after i formatted the whole drive, the problem is with home ed, it will prompt u Cannot run Under DOS mode when u initiate installation after a fresh format. Cause i thought maybe its the dll or drivers are in conflict.

So guys can u help me with this problem with the SONY DVD/CD-RW not reading any disk, pirated and original disk included, or the one with windows XP home edition installation after fresh install.

i think there is something wrong with your combo drive... kung warranty pa na... pwede tingali na nimo ipa-ayo... or perhaps pa-ilisan ug combo drive... basin naguba ang motor ana sa sulod sa drive... or and lens...

i reinstall na lang na imo os ayaw gamit og cp home katong xp professional edition

Sony is very picky ... i think you might try it with a clean CD. or clean the drive itself.. :o)

i second that. get a cd cleaner dry type as much as possible
