Default Need your suggestion: Power Effecient Setup

Guys, i would like to solicit your opinion on a decent build aimed mostly for Downloading and HTPC. (CPU only)

    Paramount considerations:

    - something that would yeild the lowest power consumption as i intend to run it almost 24/7
    - can't afford to house another big build, so i prefer an itx build
    - the budget constraint. i am hoping i could limit my spending to max of 12k. (i don't mind buying secondhand parts)

or would a laptop be a better option?

    salamat daan

Get lang Pentium boss Haswell or Ivy Bridge, el-cheapo ITX motherboard and 2GB RAM. Ang brand new sa ako kay processor ra murag 2k+ man guro ako palit.

    Mao ni ako setup:
    1. Case old school IBM case na pahigda dili tower type = 150 pesos
    2. PSU 200 watts = 100 pesos
    3. 80GB OS Hard Disk = 500 pesos
    4. 10% Life 250GB Data disk (bahala na mo kirig ni I don't care, diri ra save tanan downloads then copy to my storage server ig finish) = 500 pesos
    5. 1156 Jetway motherboard = 1,300
    6. G2020 = 2,500 pesos (not sure)
    7. A couple of fans = 200 pesos
    8. Deepcool Gamma Blade CPU Cooler = 350 pesos
Total paksit = 5,600 pesos more or less

Kusog ni nga setup boss, if Torrent + Media Center + iTunes server you will not load the CPU more than 10%.

BUT, if you plan on organizing a media library with thousands of Movies/TV series/Music. Patay ka sa HDD, pero rich bitaw ka kaya ra na kaayo.

HDD : ur 2TB Green Edition from the states. hehehe

Procie : Go lowest Richland FM2 for best Video Decode | Recode ; for best video ply-out on ur 32" LED : A4 4000

FM2 Mobo that's gud enuf for the purpose that cheap yet reliable : Asrock A55

Any small case ; even 2nd hand desktop casing na pinahigda < para ibutang sud sa tv rack stand > will do

    small form factor PSU

    4GB DDR3 1866 RAM

Intel NUC is the best option. Naa baligya si @kiboy sa una 12k lang. Sayang nahalin na.

Consider also if you really need another rig in the house because in my case, we have more pcs/laptops/tablets than we are able to use at the same time so i got an Android system as a torrent rig instead. Pwede na chinaphone. Or router with a built-in torrent client. Gamay pa kaon kurente. My 2 cents..

If you have a laptop which you rarely use or has already been dumped in the closet, why not use that instead?
Mao na gigamit nako before pero mas dako na ug kaon compared to an ARM system.

Never heard about routers with torrent client built in.. sorry, haven't been updated with computers since last time i build one last 2002 (i switched to laptops until i finally felt the itch to build another desktop rig three months ago) lol. that's exactly what i am thinking as well. as of this posting, i have 2 laptops.. but i am not sure if they're up to the task/stress.

@Iamalbertrebs and @gaspar_73: thank mga you boss sa inyong tips
