Default Is Installing Win XP on a Drive, which contains files, possible without deleting the files?

I tried to setup Windows XP on a drive which contains files I want to keep....However, when I started to do so, I was confronted to format that drive. Obviously, it would mean that the file I want to keep will be erased. Now that drive has no partition.

Can I partition the drive to 2 partitions before installing win xp?

How can I partition it before installing win xp?

try using Acronis true image, or boot from Hiren bootcd and load winxp/7 livecd and repartition-in anycase u still need to backup data just incase of problems.

Kung naa nay installed OS ang drive nga imong gpasabot TS, d na pede mapartition. Even if walay os basta kay naa nay sulod or formatted na nga drive d na man guru na mapartition. Kay una bya ang partition during first boot.

Makapartition lang ka kung raw pa ang drive. That's before formatting and installing an OS.

Hehe kana sa ako lang ng pgkabalo. Maybe when techs and pros come into this thread duna cla mga workarounds.

if you have an external hard drive, just backup your files before setting up a new partition on your main drive...yeah, you can partition the drive through Hirens Boot CD by loading Mini windows XP or 7

pero sa imung laing concern.. dpende pd na sa gidak on sa imung capacity..kay ug dako.. pwede rana nimo mapartition sa w7 adto raka disk management ig human nimog partition mabalhin rana nimo imung mga files dayun without using external drive....

It is possible to partition your drive using third party applications that is kung maka boot up pa ka sa windows... Hehehe! If dili naka maka boot up sa windows i suggest u use a windows 7 installer and then pag start start ug install pero ayae ug install all the wAy... In the process of installation you can hold shift and then press f7 and then a command prompt will open where you can type diskpart which will allow you to create/shrink your current drive... Its a bit complcated though, you can ask google for help just search for diskpart but proceed with caution as this tool can also wipe out your hdd totally! Another option you can go for is a lot less complicated but requires you to reAd! Hehehe! I've done a lot of OS installation for xp, vista and seven and if my memory serves me right windows xp will actually allow you to install a fresh copy of it in a folder you desire or you will create! =) just read the instructions carefully! Hahaha! Feel free to txt me if you need assistance... 09337288891 will alwys be glad to help!

HBCD would be the best but there is a simple way bypass it trough any Linux OS but still you need to backup files
