Default Mitsubishi's "LaserVue" Laser Projection TV Wins Energy Star Award

LCD TV, LED TV (i.e. LCD with LED lighting), Plasma TV, 600Hz Plasma, 3DTV, Smart TV... while marketing is trying to reinvent the wheel from two technologies, there are companies that have experimented with alternative way of creating motion pictures. Mitsubishi is one of those companies - the company manufacturers backside-projection TV's based on conventional light bulb technology, delivering large scale TV's at unbeatable prices.Just how unbeatable those prices are...? Take a look at a 103" Panasonic. It weighs 215 kilos and is priced at US$69,995. For comparison, 92" Mitsubishi is US$3,380... and weighs 88 kilos. Power consumption is also incomparable, 1550W i.e. 1.55kW for the 103" panasonic, versus 216W taken by the rear projection Mitsubishi. However, rear projection TVs have their downfalls equal to projectors: the bulb has a specific lifespan and you will have to replace it. Unless... we dial the clock four years ago at CES 2008. Mitsubishi showed its laser projection TV, using laser beams instead of bulb. Besides the fact that this now closed system has theoretical longer lifespan than LCDs and Plasma TV's, LaserVue also cut down the power consumption in half.Last week, after four years in development, Mitsubishi finally released a 75" LaserVue "laser TV", which immediately won Energy Star 2012 rating for most efficient TV on the market.
For US$3,699, you can buy a 75" LaserTV (yes, $100 for an inch) which brings plasma-like image quality (mitigating one of technological pitfalls), consumes around 100 Watts and delivers Full HD resolution in 120Hz. This TV is fully compatible with NVIDIA 3D Vision and 3D Vision 2 glasses as well - or you can buy Mitsubishi's own 3D glasses which utilize the same technology.
