Ok to start with a story i have NWE500f 2gb flashbased atrac player kinda cool daghan suya kay dili common iya nawng nya ako earphone is bose sound companion samot ka boom!!

ATRAC is old...that was before mp3 came to life...
ive had my 1st ATRAC back in the 90's
tiny 4inch square magfiber composite cool blue casing portable player+recorder.
damn those look good...
it was way cool back then when a 1gb flash memory would cost an arm and a leg.
sold my last atrac together with my canon 10D camera a few years back as a freebie hehehe.
wait! i sold my canon 10D with the atrac as a freebie pala...hehehe
i bet di to mahalin adto ka dali ang akong 10D if it wasnt for the atrac freebie hehehe!
anyways, now its clear that mp3 has dominated the music compression ground.
with portables, per mb storage is cheaper than ever.
although ATRAC has been improving over the years even today, it doesnt show any clear advantage over other codec like mp3 except one, it requires less power to decode atrac vs mp3 but what surprised me bout sony is WHY DID THEY NOT include it on their walkman phones...duh!
that could have been a big advantage to S.E. walkman phone users...longer playtime...

abi nako ug atrac pud ang gigamit sa SE phones. hasul man gud kung atrac. kinahanglang gyud mogamit ug sonic stage.
