Fake XFX and Real XFX - Know your card in Bangladesh
China is famous for the production of fake hardware, replica phones, mp3 players and what not. And like many Chinese products, it's made of cheap and sometimes bad quality parts, which fails miserably within used extensively for a short period of time. Sometimes these products are packaged and marketed after a well known brand, but they are not really produced by the original brand itself.
Recently a number of people had some bad experience with XFX cards in Bangladesh. Today let me talk to you about the XFX GTX 460, a card that only existed in Asia. Read on as we try to unravel the truth behind this sideshow and answer some questions.
Take these facts into consideration and keep in mind that there is a Chinese fake XFX brand that has produced XFX branded GPU’s in the past.
XFX and nVidia have parted since the introduction of Fermi.
nVidia no longer sells GPU’s to XFX as announced last year.
XFX now only does ATi Cards
XFX does not make Fermi Cards.*
There is literally NO Product Information on the XFX main site Regarding nVidia 400 & 500 Series of cards
Q1. If XFX can’t produce Fermi Cards then what about the XFX GTX 460?
When Fermi fist came out XFX announced, they are dropping nVidia cards and are no longer board Partners with them.
But Its said that Prior to their fight with nVidia, XFX had received some Fermi cards and soon after they were kicked out from being nVidia Partners. So not to lose their merchandise value, XFX released a GTX 460, and targeted only the underdeveloped countries of Asia, eg. Pakistan, India, Bangladesh.
* A proof, that these GTX 460 cards are really made by the XFX is that you can actually register them online with XFX.
However, they cannot sell these Cards in other parts of the world such as the US, Canada, New Zealand etc where they offer their life time warranty.
Here is where most of these GTX 460's are originating and being imported from

Q2. Now what about the old Fake XFX cards?
The fake XFX cards popped out of nowhere back in 2008, mostly lower end cards such as the 8600GT.
They are usually rejected nVidia cards, With XFX stickers. They can’t last long if you put them under stress 24x7. Fake XFX can be easily spotted just by closely looking their poor quality PCB’s.
So, XFX is still a very quality brand that offers Life Time Warranty on Most products. And While the rest of the world isn’t really affected, But If you live in Asia, then you are better off avoiding XFX all together, and please don’t just look for the cheapest card in the market.
Q.3 Is your XFX real?
Chances are it is, but just to be sure, Send nVidia / XFX an email..and
confirm the serial number of the card.
