The director who brought you Bridal Shower and Minsan Pa (shot in Cebu)

Seiko Films’ forthcoming offering "Bikini Open" is done in a format described by the director himself as "mockumentary" meaning fake documentary.
According to Jeffrey Jeturian, the film which stars Francine Prieto, Diana Zubiri, Cherry Pie Picache, Nina Alagao, Rafael Rosell, Alfred Vargas and TV Idol JE Sison (in his very first movie outing,) follows the fates and fortunes of participants in a bikini contest.
He also said that his objective in making the movie was to "satirize public affairs programs that inject entertainment into their content, and prioritize entertainment rather than news, sometimes at the expense of objectivity and truth."
Direk Jeffrey, whose critically acclaimed ***-comedies include "Bridal Shower," related that when he sat down with Robbie Tan to discuss his next project for Seiko Films, all he knew was that he wanted it to be as fun as "Bridal Shower." But in typical Jeturian fashion, he wanted a comedy that combined humor with wit — in short, he wanted to make a film that would not insult the intelligence of moviegoers. The "mockumentary" format lent itself well to the kind of movie he wanted to make, and to the subject matter itself.
"I thought of the idea of doing a movie on bikini contests that are held in comedy bars, because when you think about it, it’s just another form of exploitation where people will use their bodies to achieve their own ends."
Scriptwriter Cris Martinez added a new dimension to the original idea when he proposed that they put in a public affairs host sent to cover the event. The role is played by multi-awarded actress Cherry Pie Picache. Her character is so desperate for higher program ratings that she exposes not only what goes on behind the pageant, but delves even into the private lives of the contestants.
That way, the movie turns out to be not just another ***-comedy but a satire. Still, Direk Jeffrey assures that audiences will enjoy watching the film, because aside from the parade of sexy bodies, "this film goes beyond the *** comedy genre," he explained. "In a *** comedy, you’re just there for the laughs. With a satire, which this movie is, it comments on a serious issue in a funny way."
With a title like "Bikini Open," one would expect that there would be a lot of baring and daring in the film. Both its male and female stars will parade in outfits that get more and more skimpy until the crucial bikini segment, where they lay their cards on the line and see how much they are willing to bare and bear to win the much coveted title of "Bikini Open King and Queen."
