MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) -- A 10-year-old girl died and 10 others, including six children, were injured in a traffic accident today near a school in Toledo City, some 50 kilometers west of Philippine central city of Cebu, local media reported.
The injured were first rushed to a nearby hospital and then transferred to a hospital in Cebu City, said Anacleto Yang, Toledo City Police investigator.
Police investigation showed that a truck rammed into a Honda motorcycle and a multicab vehicle parked along a national highway at around 12:05 p.m.
The multicab, in turn, hit a village watchman who was guiding students crossing the road toward the Don Andres Soriano Elementary School and National High School.
After hitting the first multicab, the truck collided with another multicab that was traveling in the opposite direction.
Some of the casualties were either students crossing the street or passengers about to disembark from the parked multicab.
