Filipino Silat

I think it would be nice to talk with guys who share a common interest in Filipino Silat. That would include traditional Filipino Silat (or Silat-Kuntaw), or Filipino Silat that has recent foreign influences. My first question is - What caught your interest in our Silat? Second question - How do you find your experience in Silat?

I'd also welcome posts from people who beleive there is really no such thing as traditional Filipino Silat, Kuntaw or Silat-Kuntaw. Salamat.

greetings. Im a Pencak Silat practitioner and currently im helping in the propagation of the art here in cebu City. Although the focus of propagation is in olahraga ( sports), my base style is Mindanaw Silat Asli. My teacher is hadji Yasser Tanadjalan of the Yakan Tribe and is one of the head coaches of team philippines. I have also some exposures in Setia Hati and KPS Nusantara.

What thing that i like about silat is the beauty and the effectiveness of the art as well as its being one of our own. Silat is indigenous to the malay peninsula and that would include the Philippines.

By the way, Kuntaw is not Silat but is closely related. it has very strong chinese influence.
