It was a long wait, over three hours before I got to cast my ballot. However, my family and I had the foresight to bring our own monobloc stools (which other people kept grabbing the moment anyone of us stood up--"Excuse me, amo-a nang mga lingkuranan..."). We spent most of the time chatting. Numbers were distributed so it was a simple matter of checking every now and then on what number was being called. Since most of the people in our cluster are neighbors, the bantering helped while away the time and kept our heads cool despite frustration at the slow pace of voting. But the moment we got inside the polling place, things went very smoothly. I took only about 3 minutes to fill up my ballot and another minute to review everything.

Aside from a few expected hiccups, my personal observation so far is that things went very smoothly. The dreaded massive cheating, results manipulation and failure of elections scenarios don't seem to be happening. Kudos to the good guys in the COMELEC for pulling this one off (I said good guys, ha, not the Garci buaya types who are still there).

Hats off, too, to the teachers who manned the precincts. They were doing their level best but were just plain overwhelmed. We felt sorry for the teachers at our cluster, who had reported for duty as early as 2 AM but were never sent breakfast or snacks. Not even a pint of water. No one seemed to know who was in charge of feeding them. After voting, we went out with a few other guys, bought sandwiches and bottled water and brought them back to the teachers. Despite the disparaging comments and heated words sent their way by (understandably) irate and frustrated voters, we wanted to show that their work is appreciated by at least a few of us.

Hahayzzz...makasapot jud kay wla jud ko kasabot nganong ang among cluster kay nanghatag ug number den pagabot sa 100 kay naay second batch nga 50 den usa pa icontinue ang 101 to end. Asa man intawon na gkan ang 50 intawon oi? makasapot jud kaayo. giingnan pa jud mi nga pwede daw mi muuli sa den balik lang after lunch den if ever malaktawan na among number, ipakita lang daw ang number den i-honor lang nila. pagbalik namo pagkahapon giingnan lang mi nga pangayo lang ug balik ug number kay nanghatag daw ug laing number. kinsa man intawon ang dili sapoton ana?

I waited an hour or so after getting my number [300 something], but they were entertaining number 90 something. I went home.

every good outcome needs sacrifices.... this time its the filipino peoples turn to do it...

this will show how motivated our people...

I'm amazed with the teachers..... they're standing for 5 hours already...

busy as a working ant... probably they're thankful right now because they don't have to count the votes that much...
