Bello said he is proud that until now, his record as a public servant is clean, he had done no wrong, had not been linked to corruption and had not used power and influence for self-interest.
He was appointed as secretary of the Department of Justice twice.
During the time of former president Corazon Aquino (1986-1992), Bello was named justice undersecretary then justice secretary.
During the time of former president Fidel Ramos (1992-1998 ), he was appointed as solicitor-general then justice secretary.
Under the administration of President Gloria Arroyo, he was appointed as chairman of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines talking peace with the National Democratic Front-Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army, a job he held for 10 years.
“Before I left government service, I was a cabinet secretary and I had worked side-by-side with the late secretary Cerge Remonde.
I served the public under three presidents,” Bello said.

This guy has what it takes TO BE SENATOR; credentials, experience, track record and most of all has always been away from the limelight and was never linked to any corruption, controversy and scandal whatsoever.
