A question about ext. HDD enclosures

What I want to do is:
buy a 1Tb or 500gb HD,
buy an external enclosure
and then use it as a external drive connected via usb.

Obviously there are a lot of choices for an external HDD but I do have some questions.

1. Are there 500gb or 1TB 3.5" IDE drives available or are they all SATA at those capacities?
2. If they are only SATA, is there an ordinary and cheap enclosure for a 3.5"sata HD which will connect
to a usb slot of a laptop or is that limited to just E-sata connectors?
3. If there are IDE drives of those capacities, will using the ordinary 500 peso enclosure and HD of those
capacities, be supported in the Windows-based PC via USB?

Techie guys out there, please enlighten me!!

At present, all are in SATA, but maybe some suppliers/tech shops still have them though (IDE).

@2:
CDR-King has the cheapest enclosure so far, as far as i can remember.

@3:
Maybe, I'm not so sure about this though, i only tried a 320GB inside a cheapest IDE enclosure.

what about the sata to usb enclosures?

sata raman ang naa dagko jud ug capacities. so far sa ako nahibaw.an naa man mga limited capacities pero sa ide to kasagaran nya sa sata na ako na bantayan naay mga 500gb. ambot lang anang mga tera wa nko na update kaau ana.
wa kaau ko ka bantay sa mga esata connectors pero usb 2.0 kabantay ko. pero sa mga 2.5 man cguro to kay kailangan man cguro external power ang 3.5 kay lahi2x sad sila ug mga speeds.

better not buy a cheap one kay usually di mo support higher capacities and other reason is you are risking your HD. daghan baya reklamo sa mga HDD labi na sa enclosure sa cdrking kay ang mga connectors dali ra kaau nadaot etc.
