Default More OFWs = a Powerful PESO

    Hi Guys,

    I just thought about this...

We all have lots of OFW working all over the world for their families, but have you notice?
The more OFW we have the more Powerful our PESO is.

and right now, OFW and their families are complaining and saddened that the value of the PESO
is getting stronger, kabalo man ta nga pagmokosug ang PESO ang exchange value mo gamay...
specially sa mga buwan nga grabe ang ilang remittance like Christmas, Enrollment days.. etc

    any thoughts guys...

    Maybe more ofw= poweful peso.

    But the reason could be
the dollar is really at its lowest rate right now because of the financial crisis in the US. for example in the last few days, banks have very high writeoffs due to bad housing loans. financial companies have high loses this year. When banks report bad news, the U.S. stock market goes down and the value of US stocks and currency goes down. When US companies report positive news such as actual income is greater then estimated income that will have a positive impact on the value of the stocks and currency.

As soon as the US market picks up. things will be back to normal.
This will be a sad christmas but once the US overcomes the downside cycle in the market , things will be on the upside again.

hmmm.. yeah could be right brad.
but the way I see it... 10 years before the dollar is so strong and we dont have lots of OFWs before.
as we can see nurses and IT professionals abroad who are earning dollars are multiplying and also their remittances.
and that makes the dollar here a little bit unstable lets see if US can overcome their downside...
question is when? considering US has lot of enemies...

I dont know when the dollar will come back up. if i know i will be a millionaire.
If on the following days and month, there are positive reports in Us, such as higher sales in the season, positive change in the empoyment rate, cut of interest rates by the US federal Reaserve, companies stock receiving higher ratings by the financial agency and companies reporting positive income. those factors drive up the Us stock market and currencies.

well just have to wait and see. If i know the future, i will be so rich.
the peso to dollar right now in the WORLD TRADING MARKET is 43.190 as of Fridays November 16,2007. (Not the rates in the Philippines)
I think the value of the dollar went up in the last 3 straight days. not alot compare to P50 right?

    This is an oxy*****.

The gov't tells the people that the economy is good due to a strong peso. OFWs sends money to the country to finance their families. We need more dollars to buy back the value of our currency for the world market. This in turn strengthens the local currency which does not satisfy the OFWs and some sectors dependent on exports, but this is completely the opposite with the importers.

A compromise that would benefit the majority is still not in the works.

For all of these, can we blame the government? It is beyond our control that the prices of oil in the world market go up to as much as $98 per barrel. If not for the improving peso, we will be at a worse situation. We will be complaining more because we have the peso pegged at P 56 per dollar and the government is not doing something about it. As such, everything which we imported will have higher prices which would be equivalent to higher prices of basic commodities.

Will the OFWs be in a better situation if the peso is still at P56 per dollar? I don't think so. Their purchasing power is not increasing if and when the peso is at P56 per dollar because of higher prices of oil in the world market. It may seem that they have higher purchasing power because the exchange rate is higher but if they are buying at commodities at higher prices, it will just be futile that the price of peso stays at P56 per dollar.

At least, with the appreciating peso, the economy is able to balance the higher prices of oil in the world market thus the balance in the prices of basic commodities.
