Try looking for a rubber brush like this one:

This should only be the one you need. It helps in lifting loose hairs that could otherwise be hair balls or unsightly lints. It also has a massaging effect that cats love. This kind of brush is available in most pet supply stores. Not recommended for long haired breeds.
