Once your puppy is settled in, you can start to establish some healthy habits. These habits, many of which involve grooming, will help keep your puppy looking, feeling and acting his incredible best.
Regular grooming is good for your puppy:
- Grooming contributes to good health. It is a chance for you to check your puppy's skin, coat and body for changes.
- It feels good to your puppy.
- It is a positive way to socialize and bond.
- It enhances your puppy's appearance.
Introduce your puppy to proper grooming while still young and you will find him to be more cooperative during future groomings. There are other experiences your puppy should become familiar with. This section will tell you how to deal with two of them: proper dental care and administering medication.
You will also want to keep seeing your vet on a regular schedule. You should have gotten a schedule from your vet when you made your first visit upon your puppy's arrival. If you have questions about going to the vet, or taking care of poisons in your home (such as plants), or setting up your home to accommodate your newest family member, go to the Health section in New Arrival.
