no offense, but what benefits could you get from upgrading to 2x2gb from 4x1gb?

there will be added delay on 4X1GB since most mobos are only dual channel. this is similar to the principle of 2x1GB that is not in dual channel mode. on a 4x1GB there will be an extra processing/controller on the passing of data on two different memory modules on the same channel.

di ba naa man ka 2x1GB sa first channel then another 2x2GB sa second channel. naa man gud additional checking na mahitabo kay iya man jud na icheck kung puno na ba ang first module before siya magsugod og sulod og data sa second module sa isa ka channel. so the process of checking is extra latency na. sa electronics man gud kung mas taas ang wire + additional validation = additional delay na siya.

2x2GB proc --> chipset --> channel a (module 1 2GB)
.................................... channel b (module 2 2GB)

4x1GB proc --> chipset --> channel a (module 1 1GB if full) --> chipset --> channel a (module 2 1GB)
.................................... channel b (module 3 1GB if full) --> chipset --> channel b (module 4 1GB)
