Problematic portable HD

Need expert inputs. Please...

Unsay buot pasabot kung mo-error og "Delayed Write Failed" once i-paslak nimo imong portable HD sa USB port? Then sometimes moingon siya "USB device not recognized", then later mo-read na sad siya. Unya kung masabdan lang siyag gamay, ma disconnected/ejected dayon. My portable HD is less than a year old (but gawas nas warranty), and I only transport it from home to the office and back (dili pa jud everyday). Bisan sa computer sa office or sa balay, mo ing-ani jud siya. Is this a major problem? Would anybody here know kung unsay cause ani? Should I start backing up (or pulling out) my files sa HD before it totally zonks out on me?

could be the connection. basin naa problem imu usb. yes start backing up nalang to be safe.

Thanks, greywolf. I'll do that. Actually, nag hinay-hinay na kog save sa akong files sa CDs. But when you say connection, do you mean ang USB cord ang problematic or ang port (sa portable)? Pwede ba ko makapalit og USB cord lang for this sa mga computer stores?

Hey, guys, thanks for all the inputs. I actually called the store where I bought it from and asked if they can fix it, I found out nga one year diay iyang warranty. So yeah, I'll bring it to them for fixing and cross my fingers it's not as bad as I think it is...or if it is, that they might replace it with a new one.

At first, I was debating between buying a new USB cord or a new enclosure. I have a strong feeling ang problem naa sa port. So will changing the enclosure change the defected port? Isn't the port part of the HDD itself? *feels so dumb*

It's "sis" actually. Hehe! Anyway, how do you fix bad sectors? Will the usual error-checking tool sa Windows fix it? I've been doing regular checks and defragmenting ani nga HDD kay hadlok lagi ko maguba. Na problemado ra sad diay gihapon.


Apologies if I sound too green or newbie or kulit. I'm not exactly a newbie but dili sad ing-ana ka techie. Hehe! That's why I really appreciate all the inputs. It helps me learn in the process.
