My Mother just bought me a Daxter Edition Package PSP Slim in Bestbuy California (which includes a PSP Slim unit, Daxter Game, Family Guy Movie, and 1G Sony Memorystick Pro Duo).
It cost $ 199 for the package plus 8% tax $16. Total of $215 around P 9030 here in the Philippines (@P42 exchange rate).
You have the option to buy an Insurance for your PSP for an additional $29 around P 1218 here. The insurance is for 2 years. It is not a service warranty (like most of the stores here in the Philippines are offering) but a Unit/Parts Replacement Insurance for your PSP.
So the total cost of the Daxter PSP Slim Package is $ 244 around P 10,248 here (including Tax and Insurance). Not bad in my opinion because I saw a Daxter Package PSP in Data Blitz it cost P 12,500. I save more than P 2000 and still I have a 2 year insurance for my PSP. The problem though I must send my PSP back to Bestbuy U.S. when a defect might occur. Since my mother has friends flying back and forth to the U.S. almost every month then still I can save for freight.
The question is: Do you know stores here in the Philippines offering such an insurance for a PSP unit?
In my opinion, it is better for the stores here to offer customers this kind of insurance option when they buy a PSP unit. What is P 1218 when your investment is protected for 2 years (worry-free). It is better than service warranty, since if your PSP needs a replacement part for the defect, you still have to pay for that replacement part, the service is only free.
