a tribute to my mom and dad (just some sudden thought bubble)

my parents always love each other and have always been since probably i was born.

mom was working in a mall in Davao and was hoping for a calling because she wanted to be a nun when she met dad. she had a lot of suitors including a well-off foreigner and a son of the mall owner but her heart skipped a beat for dad who happened to be far out from the rest of her suitors. dad was a security guard of that mall. he has the look of a typical Filipino and he didn't even reach college. he got no money on his wallet and he always has to make the ends meet while supporting a family of 10 siblings. I don't know what mom saw with this man but i sure see that mom never made a mistake. she had been happy despite her father's disagreement. they eloped and had their first wedding on may 8,1986 (civil only) and finally had the church wedding on september 28,1986 (but they always celebrate their wedding anniversary on may8..not on september.i don't know why). well, ever since then, mom lived happily ever after.

although sometimes life had been hard for us, the family had been well provided. Dad gave us what we needed as long as his job can sustain it. That's what I love about Dad. He never let mom work. He always insist that he has to do the job as the breadwinner of the family. Probably it's one of the reasons why mom fell in love with him. I could still remember back in my wee days when i would wake up because of a song being played in maximum volume in our living room. I tend to get annoyed by Dad because of it. I would scream at Dad for keeping the volume low. Even my younger sister would even scratch him to turn off the stereo but Dad would just keep on singing. I didn't comprehend what he was singing until I heard it again a few years later when he played that song-- Have I told you lately that I love you-- It was Rod Stewart's and it was what makes mom blush. Prolly that's the reason why mom never stopped him from singing even if we were already begging Dad to stop. Never have I seen or heard Mom and Dad fighting. Since our room is just a wall apart from mom and dad, I could always hear them (not the making love part! that's would be gross!) talking about what happened at the end of the day, about us, about the neighbors, about the things that made mom laugh that day, about the problems at work, and about their faith in God that one way or another, there will be some solution to what they're facing. Dad would always tell mom, not to tell us for we might get affected. Unfortunately, I know about it. hahah!

My father loves my mother so much. Me and my sister witnessed that love as they grow old together. He had been a good man. I wish me and my sister's love story would be like mom's.... It's really comforting to think that someone somewhere would be happy to spend their lives with you till death do you part. Someone just like Dad.

To my parents, I'll make sure I'd make your wish come true. Let's go buy a house now!
