Featured in Warrior Pilgrimage on December 19, 2010.

JOHNSON LUYM ARRIVE with his Ford Ranger at eight in the morning in Mango Square and both me and Ernie Salomon immediately get inside together with our backpacks. It's a long way to Tabunan and we have to pick up Wil Davies and Ricky Sevilla. Today is Sunday, July 25, 2010.

We pass by JY Square in going to Banilad and we pick up Ricky first before meeting up with Wil. The truck is wide and it accommodated all of us ...

i never quite learn because i wanted to define mere minutes as if the last 60th second will never come. perhaps that's the reason why i am always late. perhaps it's the reason why i seem to always procrastinate.

to clamp down on time wanting it to stand still. those moments when the air the i breathe is the same air that you consume. our footsteps falling into that same patch of ground because we were one. so close, that i tasted sugar in my lips once when you were there with me, ...

    With your Love

HE: Gently, with your arms embrace this soul,
The bosom this warrior have longed to fall,
Out pour this flowing tears with your love,
Drown it until again i feel a distinct throb,
Passionately fill this heart with your kiss,
Press those lips with mine to the eternal bliss,
May not even in death all of this be erased,
Let love be infinite, unyielding, be our fortress.

SHE: Love as sweet and ...

  4. On Flying Kites

Before there were iPods, iPads, Dx, and what-have-you technologies children these days were so carefully enamored swiping their lazy fingers around, there was kite flying.

Summer times in my youth were always spent outdoors. Back then, the climate had not gone haywire. You could clearly spell the difference between a drizzle and a downpour. Now, you'd go insane trying to estimate the capricious climate. At about 3pm onward, our little barrio turns into a festival of kites of different ...

  5. ISTORYA BLOG #105: Rainshower Tour

Featured at Warrior Pilgrimage on December 6, 2010.

MY DISCOVERY OF A new and different route into the Buhisan Watershed Area on May 3, 2010 lead me to come back two more times on May 30 and on June 19 where, on the latter dates, I introduced bushcraft cooking to people who were with me. Those were statement events that made Camp Red a distinct outdoors group having its own identity.

For your info, Camp Red is synonymous with bushcraft and survival and nowhere else ...
  6. dagan lakawng bugno sa 50 kilometros

    Pagkalami sa akong paminaw,
wala damhang minos nga pamaol mitumaw,
    pagkataasa sa dalan nga gilatas,
walay tapos ang singgot sa pag-agas,

    Nagkadaiyang nasugatang dagway,
    may daw ang pagdagan haruhay,
apan ako layo pa pagbali sa estaca,
nakamatikod na ako sa kasakit paa,
apan bisan pa man sa ingon,
    kinahanglan gihapon mopadayon.

Nakita ko sa unahan pagsubang sa adlaw,
    ang kalag kong nagbagood naaninaw,
    may igong ...

  7. tenebrae

it's just a small vial of blood. but it throbs in my memory like a painful, festering wound. it hangs there neatly and quietly. but its image screamed inside my head, it made my fist want to bleed on the walls.

it's just a small vial of blood, but seeing it hang by his neck made me weak. every single drop of it came from your veins, and now it is tucked safely close to his heart. my eyes might have been two large anxious question marks because he looked at me, smiled, and nodded; ...
