Covenant. Promise. There could be no better word to best define it. It is mostly applied to religious activities (especially among Catholics) as going to a patron saint's church on his/her feast day, throwing a feast and feeding people in his/her honor, doing something one thinks would please the patron saint (one that really connects to his/her advocacy). I was raised in the teachings of the Catholic church. These "panaads" have become a byword especially come Lenten season. ...

In high school, my father found out I had a huge crush on a classmate who kept topping in our class (when he saw my FLAMES of our names together). Probably thinking that it would cause me to lose my interest in my studies he quipped, Asa raman na ang mga lalaki ba ug makatiwas naka! (Wait until you finish school before you even entertain boys. Well, this is not the real translation. Google translator had a hard time himself) When I graduated from college and had my job, I asked my father, "Oh ...

I don't remember the last time I bathe in the rain. It must have been eons ago. I have probably grown an uncalled for aversion to it. It used to be that I would almost pray for it to come (to the chagrin of kids who like singing, "Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day..."). What a nice contraption!). Add to that the graduation march that even when I hear it every year, I never seem to get enough of ...

Before I begin this quicky entry (which is mostly borrowed off my current FB status message), let's read an excerpt from "The Gods of Mars", a novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, part of his John Carter series of novels (yes, in case you only knew about the name John Carter from the recent movie, the John Carter character has been around for ages--well, specifically since 1912, which in fact tells us that this fictitious character is already 100 years old), the adventures of John Carter in ...

Ok, the title is misleading. I wouldn't have had your attention at this moment if it weren't for it. (You must admit you're agreeing with me on this one.) Let me not be misconstrued. I am no expert on women, neither do I represent the whole EVE demographics. What I might be mentioning may or may not reflect what the rest of my female kind thinks and feels. These are just part and parcel of the whole female psyche. What I am most certain about as I write this is that I am a woman. After all, it ...
