Unless the mindset of Filipinos don't change--and this mindset being, that if you can AFFORD to BUY a car, you HAVE to buy a car--then traffic congestion in downtown city streets will ALWAYS be a problem. The car is a status symbol for most Filipinos, so they will INSIST to have a car (if one can afford it) if only to show to the world that they are "successful" in life, and EVEN IF there was a light rail transit or tram, or subway system, they would ignore it and still use their car. This is what's markedly different from the attitude of people in Europe, Japan etc. and why they maintain very efficient light rail and/or subway systems--a mature society gives more value to the common good than individual pursuits.

lack of foresight. no urban planning. heck, we cannot even throw our garbage well, or have the insight of having a sewage and water treatment facility, nor decongest the city and focus more on rural development and jobs, focusing however on its after-effects: urban traffic nightmares and pollution.

these are lessons learned by urban planners a century ago. what is preventing us from learning these lessons?

Whatever I guess will work as long as they plan it well. What I believe they lacked is planning. They are always up who gets the credit for a certain project or such, not realizing that it's the people's money they are spending. They said they would "shell out their own." Who are they fooling?

"Their predictability and patterned plots are qualities which make them truly unique among all other movie genres."

Unique? Let's rewind sometime in the mid 1930's when movies were really taking off in Hollywood, USA (mostly due to the advent of "talkies") and film producers were trying to come up with a simple "formula" to make sure that they maximize profits over the expenses of making a movie. What formula did they come up with? Well it was a rather long list, but your description above fits two categories in that list. And thus, Regal Films etc, basically just copied those tried and tested Hollywood producer formulas. Precisely why they are predictable and have patterned plots, and thus not unique.

"For who could explain why in every film, especially those shot in the 80's to 90's why they always have a scene in the movies where the main characters dance in the beach with choreographed steps, complete with back-up dancers?"

Easily explained and again, not unique. Copied from Indian Bollywood movies, which used this as standard formula since around mid 1960's.

i also love ukay-ukay although the smell triggers my allergy but i don't mind..for me, with ukay-ukay, you get not just quality but quantity as well..if i see something nice sa mga malls, i would always say, "naa man na sa ukay-ukay".."mangukay na lng ko"..hahahaha..my mom and I share this passion..haha..passion jud?!

hahaha..nka relate lang ko sa pasa-pasa ug pliti..when i was still commuting, i would always say "palihog ko" if i'm far from the driver and "salamat" when i get my change. it may sound overrated..bahalag dli ko nila tagdon after i say thank u, but i know that i meant what i said..ingon ana pud unta kung mopasa ug pliti sa uban pasahero sa jeep..i'm sure other people would appreciate that.. simple but courteous words can go a long way..
