Default Is "Filipino" a race/ethnicity or a nationality or both?

As title suggests. Is Filipino a race/ethnicity or a nationality or both?

And what do you place on forms when you see the labels Nationality and Race?

Just wanted to check your views on this.

    eth·nic·i·ty

-the fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition.

    na·tion·al·i·ty

    1.
the status of belonging to a particular nation
    2.
an ethnic group forming a part of one or more political nations.

    does this answer your question?

It can be both sometimes... it mostly depends on how you use it. Let me clear it out:

Ethnicity - I think is more related on physical features, etc. In my practice, we use to this to note if one is Asian, European, African, etc.
Nationality - has something to deal with your citizenship. Likewise, we use this in relation to country of "current" citizenship irregardless of ethnicity.

So, a typical Filipino may have:

    Ethnicity - Filipino
    Nationality - Filipino

But, if you have an Fil-Am example.. It may look like this:

    Ethnicity - Filipino
    Nationality - American (or vice-versa)

@Doge correct. Daghan lang Pinoy wala kabalo niini. Technically, Filipino is not a race. Like Singapore, ilang citizens kay Singaporean and major races are Malay, Chinese, Indians, etc. Unfortunately atong nation nawala na ang tracks sa native ethnicity sa citizens.
Kabasa ko sa wiki sa battle of mactan katong una nga datu nga nahimong christian kay nag speak ug malay and atong language system, alibata, is the same as malay. So in any case ma consider ba historical race nato mostly kay malay? (Just a thought)

Kung muadto kag america unya nag change nakag citizenship (basta di dual),

    Imo:
