Course Facilitator:
Ramon C. Judilla, DBA, CPIM, CPSM, is the founding Director of the Operations Management Society of the Philippines (OMSP). OMSP was formed to serve organizations in their quest for operational excellence.

Dr. Judilla is an international member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) - the Association for Operations Management. He is Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and an accredited instructor by APICS.

His experience includes materials management,business process reengineering, construction and facility maintenance, project management, operations and distribution management. He also taught engineering and operations management in two prestigious local universities.

Lean manufacturing is a system that maximizes the output of a process with minimal inputs through "lean" techniques and tools. It is also a working 'culture', whose objective is to reduce work in progress, downtime, buildup of excess raw materials, finish goods, and all waste. It is a system towards optimal efficiency.

There are several factors in order for this system to be successful.

1) Workers must be multi skilled;
2) Quality output at each step of the process;
3) Standardized tasks and processes, and;
4) Fairly predictable demand with strong relationships with customers and suppliers.

Learning and understanding the many lean concepts will help the operations/process engineer and his/her production/operations team implement and structure lean initiatives and production tasks that can deliver increases in output with the same or minimal inputs into their processes.
