    Another perspective worth taking into consideration is that this war is a good showcase for Russian Military Hardware. Being a major arms exporter they were able to demonstrate most of the equipment to the world and to would be client states. There were US tech also included but apparently they were not maximized because of it was used by proxy.

    The bigger problem besides Syria is Saudi Arabia. With their huge budget deficits and large arms stockpile, if Saudi Arabia collapses then the contagion will spread all over the middle east.
