    Default Throttle Position Calibration

Calibrating Throttle Position Sensor on Honda Civic/City D13B/PH13Z the proper way

Magkadugay magkaoffset man gud ning TPS labi na ug dugay2x na ang sakyanan...

First buhaton is to reset the butterfly throttle valve nga wa gyuy gap (completely closed) magkadugay man gud naa na ni siyay gap which can result to a bit higher RPM on the engine which results to a higher gas consumption.

Ang sunod kini na dayong TPS sensor, butangan ug multimeter probe ang red wire (+) the green wire (-) the turn ON the key without starting the engine, just in the ON position, now turn slowly the TPS and set to 0.48VDC on a closed throttle position, after that retighten the screws then open manually the throttle to the widest opening and read the multimeter, it should read 4.5VDC or else if it`s lower you need to adjust the accelerator cable kay basin hugot ra.

On the service manual setting (Factory Default)

    Closed Throttle = 0.48VDC
    Wide Open Throttle = 4.5VDC

Note: this is not a FITV, RPM calibration compensator ra gyud ni siya nothing more nothing less this is where you calibrate the RPM kung mag ON na ang A/C compressor, so kung 800 RPM on an idle ang engine, inig ON sa A/C 800 RPM ra gyud gihapon, if offset na kini nga calibration ang tuyukon na sad para mupariha gyud sa normal engine idle maski mag ON or OFF ang A/C, mao ra ba gyud ni kasagaran sakit sa Honda, kung dili mu under RPM inig ON sa A/C mu over RPM sad so you now know where to adjust

Now let`s discuss LEAN BURN tungod sa ka way lingaw nako ganiha akong gi test mismo akong auto to have a concrete evidence ngano gyung di kaayo mukalas ug gasolina kung lean burn na.

So I plugged an touch screen OBD computer to find out unsa gyud ka tinu-od....

On this photo normal mode ni the ECT sensor represents the block sensor, and the IAT (intake air sensor) katong naa sa air cleaner console, notice the F.injector value inig i-ON na nako ang LEAN BURN switches...

Now in this photo nag ON na ang LEAN BURN switches, as you notice the ECT and the IAT sensors jumped @ 161 F and 133 F maski normal ra gud ang temps the ECU computer thinks that the air passing through the intake manifold is hot enough and the block is hot enough, it recalculates the gas feeding, from 3.49 milliseconds it drops to 3.15 milliseconds, meaning iyang gipagamyan ang feeding sa gasoline because it thinks nga init na ang hangin sa intake ug ang temperature sa block

Kung init na ang hangin on a normal laws of physics di na kinahanglan ug daghang gasolina para mu kayo, gamay lang gasolina kayo na dayon.

This is the Graph of a perfectly calibrated Throttle Body ohh lala hehehe

To make the Story Short Ilad2x sa ECU computer para lang maka minus sa gasolina this is what LEAN BURN is all about

Not really bad for a 60 PHP Mod for fuel efficiency....

My next project would be the Freeflow Exhaust System hehehehe, magsaba2x ko gamay lang

Default PH13Z Intake / Exhaust Valves Tuning

Recently nag adjust ko sa valve clearances kay para perfect tune gyud ang makina, I found out that the mechanic who adjusted it the last time maybe guba iyang filler gauge or gimata mata ra ang pag gapping (pinamaayo style) his gap adjustments are intake 0.45mm, exhaust 0.60mm, baliktad na man nu-on, imbis mas dako ug opening ang intake kay sa exhaust, so I recalibrated it back to it`s original gappings which is 0.18-0.22mm intake, and 0.23-0.27mm exhaust using a proper filler gauge, TDC 1,3,4,2, now my intake gap is 0.20mm and my exhaust is 0.25mm

daku-a ug kalahi-an sa previous tune uy, crisp and aggressive na ang power delivery, almost straight na gyud ang graph sa idle sa analyzer...bida gyud aning mga pina maayo nga mga mekaniko uy purya buyag

Note: the exhaust valves should have a bigger gap than the intake valves, not the other way around, or else it will affect the vehicle idle (can only be seen on a graph engine analyzer) and the peak power output of the engine...

Use a filler gauge, ayaw gyud anang kalo kalo-on lang (pina maayo style)

Most of all "Follow the Manufacturer`s Service Manual" ayaw ug imbento ug widow2x kay sakit kaayo sa ulo sa tag-iya kung mag widow2x mo Kung wa moy service manual sa unit pagpuyo, ayaw patuga2x kay kada unit lahi2x ug calibration each and every component...

Pwede gud kung pwedehon weekends lang kay naa pud koy work weekdays, last time I tuned a distant cousin`s ESI (PH16), TB recalibration, IAC overhaul, Intake manifold general cleaning, TPS re-orientation, sad to say pag test drive namo sa SRP it broke it`s timing belt we manage to break it`s 120 KPH barrier, I didnt notice his timing belt was severly soaked with engine oil kay naa huge leak iyang crankshaft seal, wa gyud ko kabantay kay naa man guy plastic cover, diha na ko kabantay pagkaputol kay nibitay na man @ an underpowered engine, nilahutay pa ang basa nga belt, pag tune na sa iyang original calibration nalunhat na , 135 KPH @ 4rth gear and the engine suddenly stopped, luckily these engines are valve ported pistons (thanks to honda) di gyud mahitabo nga mga bawg ang valves, so a change of crankshaft seal and timing belt good to go na sad iyang unit, word of advice check first your timing belt status before tuning kay aggressive na kaayo ang power sa makina nga basin malunhat ang timing belt, labi na ug nagbasa na tungod sa leaking crankshaft seal...(very common on a 10+ years old cars)
