Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will run for president in the 2016 national elections and may announce his plans in a proper time.

This was revealed Sunday by Duterte's lawyer Salvador Panelo, who was in Bacolod City over the weekend.

Panelo said though he is not yet certain if Duterte will get the endorsement of the administration or by the opposition.

There are already movements through social media endorsing him to run for president, he added.

CONTRARY to the statement of lawyer Salvador Panelo, Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte denied on Monday having said he would run as president in 2016.

Duterte reiterated he does not deserve the position.

“Ganito yan eh. And I hope this ends the story. Ibigay niyo yang presidency sa taong who covets it, who wants it. Hindi ko kailangan yan, ayaw ko,” Duterte said.
