I believe bro di ni maayo or effective nga pagka concept sa electronics. no wonder daghan nag lisud nga pinoy kay I believe ingon ani ang pag treat nila sa ilaha gadgets nga investment/asset...

The definition of an asset and a liability is subjective, movary na from person to person. Some people's assets might be a liability to other and vice versa.

But a very common misconception about an asset is equating it to proprietorship regardless kung giunsa pag gamit.

sakto, subjective ra na, pero kung conservative imo ganahan na pag estimate, dli nimo ilabot ang mga gadgets, pero kung to the dot kaayo ka mocompute sa imong net worth, iapil jud nimo ang gadgets, but of course market value or below market value imo presyo sa imong gadgets as asset, naa diay koy gadgets like Smart TV, dili diay na pwede mahimo i liquidate? pwede sad na oi. but over the years it will depreciate, but still, kung i liquidate jud ka totally, apil na tanan butang oi as assets basta kay naay value

two types of assets - one that depreciates over time and another that appreciates over time.

Depreciation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gadgets/electronics/Sakyanan are still considered an asset, but generally their value will depreciate over time. Depende na nimo unsaon na nimo pag gamit, kung mopalit man gani ka ug gadget kinahanglan mo serve sa imo needs rather than your wants. For example - ning palit kag DSLR kay part na sa imong trabaho as a photographer/graphic designer/web developer, then it serves its purpose - appreciating asset ni para nako, kay nakakwarta man ka sa pag gamit niya, even though ang value sa DSLR nagkagamay over time. Pero kung nipalit lang ka ug DSLR para masatisfy ang luho, then lain na nang istoryaha, then its definitely a depreciating asset.

Just an opinion lang bro ha. Not to offend or anything.
A DSLR even if gigamit nimo sa imong work is never considered an appreciating asset.

Unless lang tingale antique nana siya, but even then a piece of electronics like a DSLR will never go that far in par with its original value. An exception lang tingale nga mosaka ang value niya is if kana nga camera mao nay gigamit ni Hitler sa iyang panahon. Anyway antiques have different methods for appraisal.

I get your idea sa "DSLR kay part na sa imong trabaho as photographer/graphic designer/web developer." but even then ang kana nga (butang) DSLR does not appreciate in value, year by year it depreciates and in several years it becomes obsolete.
You profitted tungod ani nga butang nga imong gigamit. But while you were profitting your equipment depreciated.

Mao nga in my own opinion, DSLRs never really appreciate, bisan paggigamit na nimo sa imong profession.
