well, just by looking at the map, spratlys is much closer to the philippines. i really do not get it why china thinks it is theirs.

why do we always have to depend on the US to defend us? wala bang pride ang pilipinas? just look at north korea, yes they are poor but they have a good military, nobody will bully them. unlike us, poor na nga, big joke pa ang military.

The explanation is simple. They know its not theirs, and they don't think it is. It's just that they can get away with saying that it is. You can know you're lying and still claim you're telling the truth. Sad but simple truth.

hahaha i know nakakahiya sila about the pump boat thing. hay, so much for the military modernization.

the only reason why were bullied is the lack of love of our country(which are the officials) have you ever noticed that since were small were trained to learn english and that most of the subjects are spoken in english? well for starters we have to really eliminate family dynasties in the philippines like the arroyo,Aquino, estrada etc we have to pick a new leader that can really hold an iron fist to his or her subordinates not being controlled by his subordinates sadly we have a shadow government, once we pass through this i believe our military might will increase to ^_^

Hahaha people come up with all sorts of excuses for why our country is the way it is. I don't think you're right, because in Singapore they are taught English and most of their subjects are in English too. You also neglect to state the fact that Tagalog is not a universally accepted national language, many of us visayans would object to this assertion. You have a point about lack of love of country, but it's not related to language. Also, it's a chicken and egg scenario. Is it that a country is run well if people love it, or is it that people love their country because it's run well. It's hard to love a country that expects a lot out of you but gives basically nothing in return.

If anything we should be learning Mandarin, if we love our country. The dominance of China in Asia is inevitable. It can't be avoided, stopped or prevented. What we can do is simply accept its inevitability and do what we need to do to conform to the new reality. Spain is on the other side of the world so we should stop acting like the special Spanish child of Asia. America is also on the other side of the world so we should stop acting like the unwanted 51st State. China is on our doorsteps so we should start acting like we are part of Asia, because that's where we are.

^ so true! nasa gray area tayo how asian we are at napaka western ng pilipinas. ang problem is indifference. we just don't care anymore especially our leaders, who most of the time thinks public service is a money making scheme. ramos sold fort bonifacio for military modernization.... meron nga stealth planes! di talaga makita! if I were china, as powerful and influencial as I am, di rin ako magdadalawang isip na angkinin ang Spratlys. Ano bang say natin? hanggang laway lang ng mga leaders natin ang panlaban natin with their diplomatic protests.
