    Default AGP Video Card Blues

    AGP Compatibility: The Short Version

If an AGP card fits in an AGP expansion slot then they are compatible. But read the rest of this anyway. There are some rare exceptions where motherboard and video card manufacturers don't obey the rules.

    AGP Compatibility: The Long Version

    AGP Basics

In 1996, Intel introduced AGP 1.0. AGP was a modified version of PCI designed to speed up transfers to video cards. It was followed by AGP 2.0 in 1998 and AGP 3.0 in 2002. Each new version added new speeds and signaling voltages.

    AGP Version[br]----------------
    Signaling Voltage[br]------------------------
    Peak Speeds[br]-----------------------------------------------------------

    AGP 1.0
    3.3 Volts
    1X at 267MB/s, 2X at 533MB/s

    AGP 2.0
    1.5 Volts
    1X at 267MB/s, 2X at 533MB/s, 4X at 1067MB/s

    AGP 3.0
    0.8 Volts
    4X at 1067MB/s, 8X at 2133MB/s

PCIE is good, the cards are cheaper but the board is more expensive, nuts :P

Maybe so..... faster and advanced ang PCIe

but the price is way too expensive to be used para sa video card ..... (well.... depende sad sa mga well-off individuals)

pero for me its not that practical to use PCIe .... at least for now.

if you want value for your money then there's still a wide range of other alternatives out in the market.

    peace..

No games out there are still able to really utilize PCIe to its fullest, for now, though my next upgrade path would be to an Athlon 64 Socket 939 system. Nforce4 would be good, however, but considering how I already have an AGP 8X 6600 GT graphics card (w/c cost me some money BTW), I'm finding the ULI chipset solution a really good option for folks like me. Any suggestions?

    Short answer: No.
    Long answer: No.

If the AGP slot is busted, you'll have to get a new motherboard :P
