shortages and surpluses.....price fixing by government is the classic way of creating shortages and surpluses. the price, if set lower than the market would have determined, creates an immediate surplus of would-be consumers and a shortage of willing suppliers...the social security problem is a surplus of retired persons hoping someone else will provide their livelihood during their flight from reality.

oh no, that is a misconception... There will be no long term shortages and surpluses because the market will be totally be dictated only by market forces and not by unnatural regulations set by the government... The surplus and shortages are brought about by government regulations, taxation on specific products and several other regulations that affect business transactions....

The social security problem is one that is bound to fail even at the start of its conception... There's a way to save it, but nobody would dare propose it in the legislator, increase taxation... From the increased revenues through taxation (boo hoo for us), they can fund (hopefully but unlikely) the SSS perpetually...of course, there is perpetual increase in taxation to compensate for that... You see, that is government intervention by intervenening into the free market, it addressed the issues of retirement (not solved!) but it created new problems far worse than what it promised to solve...

The other solution would be to...leave it to free market... that would entail scrapping a lot of regulations that discourages the growth of healthy competition, indirectly blocking new investors and increases new schemes of taxation..

your assumption can lead to your "auto-correction"; either capitalism and socialism. whatever the gov't induces will always have reciprocity. problems increase fairly enough because of the society not by government.

there is no socialism...how can it lead to socialism? Socialism is for the government to control some means of production in the market, just like what we have right now...We are a democratic socialist state and not a democratic republic state.. Problems are increased by government intervention, as evidenced by our current situation.

not necessarily but either way, in free market, capitalist runs the whole thing. and further runs their own policies. obtaining ultimate authority to control, prices, supply and demands and even benefits. leading to revolution and then socialism. anyways, the topic is about banning hospitals making nurses pay hehehe but you know what, i find it healthy here with this section.

Capitalists will compete with other capitalists... Their greed will be kept in check with other greed.... The standards of living of the common man had only improved in societies which are more capitalistic...competition is encouraged and that drives prices as low as possible... what ultimate authority to control prices and supplies are you talking about?

There are different types of socialism. I think you are mentioning more like the outdated idea of David Ricardo's theory. Principles of Political Economy.

Capitalism leads to corporate socialism? That's a Adam Smith idea.... I think most of this at worst can lead to Corporatism

capitalism will only become corporatism if the government will intervene into the free market and unintentionally or intentionally favoring one sector/industry/group in the society...
