I find the note slipped under the door a bit creepy for these suspicious times. If I were you, I'd just wait for those moments lang nga mag abot mo sa hallway and establish eye contact, give a nod of acknowledgement, smile or say "mayng buntag/udto/gabii bai". Just something casual to establish a familiar routine sa imong pag tagad niya. Never assume he's bi/gay. It's safest to treat him as straight unless obvious na kaau ig ginhawa palang niya. Better be safe than give an impression of a creepy guy on the hunt.
