my external hard drive 1tera byte suddenly stops working!
i plug in to any power supply and it's not turning on!
no blinking, no noise, no power?!

anung gagawin ko! all my important files lost?

if it still has warranty better get a replacement. and if possible make them recover your files.

+1 .. less likely its a bad cable, but still you may try to get a different cable or plug it in a different USB port.. other than that, it's for warranty

correct me if im wrong, im guessing this drive has an external power cable aside from the USB cable... am i right?

so my guess here the culprit is the power cable

if it is still in warranty have it replaced

if out of warranty you could try
1. finding another drive similar with yours and test power cable if it is indeed the one that has an issue
2. opening the enclosure and remove the hard drive and test it inside a PC.

yep, it has external power cable, ill try to replace the cable, punta lang akong cdr king!
my warranty expired last 04/25/10, sayang di man lang umabot nagyon.
nways, ill try to but another cable hopefully meron somewhere sa mga pc shops...

if not ill tear it open and plug it directly sa motherboard, as youtube explains it....

it gave me power n confidence to open this stupid hard drive, i just want to know kung meron nang nakagawa... ill come back when i got a new cable or open this up, next lesson to learn is how to put this or connect this to my motherboard... thanks again!

so, i bought my EHD to the store, warranty expired, so i search other PC stores just to test my power cable or what ever the problem is, i can find any stores to test my WD and they don't have any extra cable to test it, thanks to the girl @ octagon, she said i should look for adaptor at ace hardware!

found a AC/DC adaptor for the device and salamat naman and it opens! so, the problem was teh power cable, but the ac/dc adaptor cost 928php. i didn't buy it, hoping i can find cheaper ac/dc adaptor and i walk away happy that all my files are intact.
