I was in Davao last week for some family matters that I needed to attend. As always, my stay was another blast!!!

facts again;

somebody said that the 2 Billion international airport in Davao is now the most modern.

maybe true, because its the newest, but not necessarily true being the most modern.
coz, even if there are so may international airports going on, the Iloilo, Davao, Silay in Negros, Panglao in Bohol, Zamboanga, only Cebu can claim a true internatioal status outside the NAIA, cause, it is the Cebu airport who will direct incoming ang outgoing international flights, cause its the only one, outside NAIA who has the modern radar and air navigation equipments.


Davao is one the largest seaweeds manufacturing, add nato Zamboanga, Jolo, Gensan, but everything is shipped to Cebu for processing into carageenan, We have Shembrg, CP Kelco, FMC Marine Colloids, etc. And Cebu shipped it to different countries in the world.

Davao has 15 Billion investments in power for the year 2005. The proponents HEDCOR, is an Abotiz owned and controlled comapny. and it just happens that is is based in Cebu.
The Aboitiz family are formidable business based in Cebu.

SM in Davao, might be a large investment, yes its true, but have you heard from the business grapevine that among its invesment, the SM Group has yet to earn a single centavo from its here. They are actually loosing money in Davao and bleeding badly, to think they are now two years here.

Just look at the shopping malls, its almost empty during weekdays, because while there are alot of retail and shopping malls int he area, the purchasing power slides down, cause there is no growth in the manufacturing sector, while the tourism sector continues to eradicate, proof to this, is the continuing financial bleeding of Marco Polo Hotel, for three consecutive years already and almsot zero investment in these sector for the past three years.
The decline of the purchasing power of the Davaoenos eventually mafe a cuthroat competition among retail sector, which continues to cannibalize each others market. Jsut look at Gaisano City in Davao, almost five or six years na, until now wa pa jud mapuno, daghan pa stalls nga bakante. Same with SM, NCCC Mall and other malls.

And by the way, i would like to remind everybody that before Davao hosted the ATF on 2005, Cebu already hosted it four or five years ago, just cant remember the exact year.

And Cebu is the favorite for the ADCONGRESS! I dont why they wouldnt choose Davao. Davao is an active bidder of the Congress but always beaten by Cebu.
Perhaps this is a testimonial manifestation that we are on our way of becoming a tiger economy in the next five to ten years, without the support of the imperial Manila.

and 1 more fact, Cebu is a local business driven economy, maski mag pull out man ang foreign investments or dili suportahan sa National Government, we will always survive, and we have shown during during the Marcos era.

Sa other cities, like Davao, kung ma pull out and FDI sa banana plantatiosn and other furit processing plants, asa na kaha? Mananom na lang ug tangkong!

Sa Manila? look at the people nga walay jobs didto asa padung? Tulisan, Kidnapper, Snatcher, Kawatan, Politiko nga kawatan or manipulator?

Ang mga tawo sa Manila nag salig sa jobs, dire sa Cebu, naa gamay puhunan, negosyo dayon, bahala way balay, naa lay negosyo.

Dili ta mag away, let us put our facts here.

and besides being a top city, yes its manila i agree. but it does not necessairly means that it is the best city. the best city is still Cebu, because while we dont have the traffic, pollution, red tape and economic and political doldrums in Manila, we have the amenities manila could offer.

And Cebu is both rural and urban city. Gusto ka adto bukid, about 15 minutes adto naka, gusto ka ligo dagat, 15 mins ra pud, and not just ligo ha sa dagat, you can choose from the best to the worst resorts or whatever, gusto ka mag malling naa pud, gusto ka mag bagdoy-bagdoy, adto ka sa downtown or uptown, gusto ko ug plain business naa sad ta ika offer, gusto ka ug nightlife, daghan kaayp kapilian, gusto ka ug fine dining, international dining, or native dining completo ang cebu. gusto ka ug simple dining naa mi Mac dokodoko sa daplin or linarang sa pasil or barbecue sa Larsian. gusto ka tan-aw sine, Cebu is simultaneuous sa Manila.

or religious kaayou ka, naa dire Basilica Minor sa Sto. Nino, ug ang pinaka Da Best, ang Sinulog Festival, ang mother of all festivals sa tibouk Pilipinas!

and the most important is, gusto ka ug Amigo ug Amiga nga gwapa o gwapo, nia dire sa Cebu. Pwede ka namo kantahan, gitarahan, sayawan. Cebu got the best talents in the country.

And Cebu are known for being loyal and hospitable friends.

perti ka arti aning mga manilenos..dili mangaon ug poso [hanging rice] kai hugaw kuno...haven't heard of any news here that a person died of eating poso.

i've heard that Cebu was listed as one of the richest cities in Southeast Asia...kalevel daw sa Bangkok and others...any info?

nice to read those khabz...diba the ATF was held in Cebu last 1998. but before Cebu it was also held in Manila. The next time daw na iheld ang ATF here in Phils will be 8 years from now daw. They said that ATF opened the doors for Manila and Cebu...I hope it will do the same thing for Davao.

I agree about those info about the Aboitiz too. They also owned the Davao Light Corporation. And yeah they are based in Cebu.

About the ad congress...Davao has not been chosen for several times now because the participants find the location far and they are weary about the security issues daw in Davao... Davao is unfortunate to have such perception.

With the airport...WellÂ* DIA only serves flight for Manado and Singapore. Gamay ra. so maybe it cant be considered an international airport then.
