a few years? nah..okay let me explain it further para maka-G ka..i began working since 16 ko (@ mcdonalds), been saving it since my mom(nurse sa county hospt.) & dad(engr. sa google) pays for everything i wanted/needed..then pag 18 nako nag open ako dad ug resto sa santana row, then iya ko gi-hire as valley driver/server (depende sa akong gana) which actually makes around 60-150/day tip..21, then he made me a svisor, after 6months, manager na ko (around 64,000 to be exact, after tax kay claim one ko)..i live with my dad since naa cya sakit (weak ang heart so bantayanan) & basically free tanan since naa koy credit card na paid sa store upto $750/month, amo phone is family plan, ako insurance is sakay ra sa ila nga insurance, so mahulog nga wa koy akong magasto (meaning ive been saving my salary for morethan 10years na, except anang mga gasto nga personal na kaau)..plus i was really planning to buy a house (everyone knows mao nay nindot nga investment, then i-convert ang garage & pa-rentahan dayun per room) until nag crisis so gapalit nalang ko ug sakyanan instead coz mao man ako dream car..i have saved morethan 300g's since 420 ang price sa blay akong giinitan somewhere in milpitas nga tag 340 nlang karun..

I'm sorry man but I think this is pure fiction. Can't blame me for thinking so. First off... let's all agree that fastfood income is just beer/cigarette/gas money. Let's not count that part. Then - 64k after tax for a Restaurant Supervisor/Manager is pretty unrealistic unless it's a high end place. Was your dad's place high end? was it always packed? Who was your chef?

I'm arguing that fact because a friend of mine who manages a mid-range Japanese Buffet place (which is always... always packed during lunch and dinner) is merely taking home roughly 35k after tax.

Regardless.. even if you're taking home 30k clean (I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here) and not having any expenses, it will take you 10 years to save 300k. Now, let's assume that you were a normal young adult. Young adults need extra $$ every now and then regardless of how much you argue about it. You need $$ for your wants... the clothes, the partying, dates, CD's, gadgets, video games, etc.. those will still come out of your savings. You might argue about it but those expenses will take close to half of the money you earn. Especially when you don't have any responsibilities to attend to. SO - for the sake of argument, let's say you managed to take in 20k/year while living under the parents house. 300k is still way up there now, is it?

anyways, i happen to know people, mostly mexicans (among chef, 4 waiters ug 2 valley drivers) nga mu-anha ra para para mu-trabaho, after 2yrs of saving their money, uli sa mexico & stay for morethan a yr sad..wala nay mga papel sila ha, puro fake tanan..they pay 2g everytime musakay sila sa ilang giingun na boarder bus para lang makasud sa boarder..kana daw mu-dagan sa boarder para ra daw na sa mga 1st timer or walay ikabayad..& the person im saying trabaho ug grave sa arco, ako amigo, CEBUANO pud..basic bills ra ginabayaran (400 room rent + 60 phone + 50 car insurance = $510), making aroung 1200 after tax...if practical ka pagkataw sa america, mabuhi raka ana (mag cge paman gani mi starbucks, moviehauz, etc. kung off niya)..but kung HILAS ka mugasto sa imung kuarta nga mura ug wala nay ugma (palit tanan gadet bisan ga-dubli2x na, pataka shopping nga i-display ra diay to paghuman kay di na magamit, specifically SAPATOS)..aw, imu na na nga choice..

To get by, a person has to adapt according to his income... or else he's stuck with credit that's way over his head. It's good that your cashier friend can make ends meet. Like I said, diskarte gyud na sa taw.

For those who can afford the things they want. Cool. If a person has 4 PC's, 2 laptops, all the video game consoles, etc... - hey, if he can afford it without bypassing a meal or two, cool. If he wants to have over a dozen tennis shoes - There's nothing wrong with that, as long as his family is not skipping meals for the sake of having a new Nike Zoom Vapor 6 in his closet. If he can have 4 vehicles bisag duha ra sila ang mo drive, nothing wrong with that either. Basta lang nga igka human ug palit sa mga extra, di magka gidlay ang budget.

They worked hard when they went to college, they worked hard to earn a living.. they deserve all the stuff they want - AS LONG AS IT'S NOT BEYOND THEIR MEANS.
