Breaking Bad – is not just your typical television drama series. The series won twice at the Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. The film was first produced way back in January 20, 2008 and is intended to be nine episodes for season one. However, only seven episodes were filmed due to the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike. Breaking Bad has received wide-ranging critical acclaim for its cinematography and writing. Bryan Cranston won the very first award for Outstanding Lead Actor in Drama Series during the Emmy Award for his portrayal of the character Walter White in season one.
Breaking Bad is the story of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), an over qualified chemistry teacher, diagnosed with stage three terminal lung cancer, who is struggling financially. He is living with his pregnant wife, Skyler White (Anna Gunn), and 15 year old son, Walter Jr. (RJ Mitte), who has cerebral palsy. Walter’s last wish is to leave a sufficient inheritance for his family before his sickness consumes him.
On a ride along with his DEA agent brother-in-law Hank Schrader (Dean Norris), he sees his former junkie student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) fleeing the scene as the DEA busted the meth lab. Walter made a dramatic turn of his life and resorts to selling drug, specifically methamphetamine to provide for his family with the help of Jesse. He uses his advance knowledge in chemistry to cook potent crystal meth. In search for a distributor, Jesse approaches the drug distributor who happens to be the cousin of his old partner, named “Krazy-8” (Maximino Arciniega). Due to the unfortunate twist of fate, the two were accused as cop informants by Krazy-8 which results to kidnapping and killing the distributor and his accomplice to defend themselves. Walter breaks his ties with Jesse deeply disturbed by the ordeal and decides to concede to his cancer rather than suffering the side-effects of chemotherapy.
Walter’s family momentarily convinces him to undergo treatment and was offered financial help by Hank and Gretchen Schwartz (Jessica Hetch), a co-owner of Gray Matter- a successful pharmaceutical company, an ex-girlfriend and college chemistry assistant, but turns down the offer. He tells his family that he accepts the offer of Gretchen and decides to return to producing crystal meth. Walter persuades Jesse to reproduce the product and sell it to Tuco (Raymond Cruz), a powerful psychopath drug distributor who robs and incapacitates Jesse during their first meet up. To gain Tuco's respect, Walter advances to the distributor’s territory offering him an abundant supply of remarkably potent methamphetamine. In order for the two to produce large quantities of meth for the new distributor, they begin to expand their operation by stealing a drum of methylamin, which is the substitute for the sympathomimetic drug of the phenethylamine and amphetamine chemical classes, called pseudoephedrine. Walter decides to create the pseudonym "Heisenberg" to conceal his true identity from the public and from his family as the chase with the DEA continues.
