Please be informed that since 2012 an International Protocol and Agreement for accreditation of engineering and technological professional education was approved and called as the Washington Accord. The signatories are Asia Pacific and European Union member countries (Asia Pacific includes, US, Canada, Japan, China, Russia, ASEAN inlcuding Phils., Australia, New Zealand, India, Latin America such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico) and the EU countries (UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, etc.)

In the Phils. the designated accreditation body is the Phil. Technological & Engineering Council (PETC or PTC) in cooperation with experts from top engineering schools in Asia; National Univ. of Singapore and Tokyo Technological Univ.

As of 2015 only 5 engineering schools in the Phils. were accredited after passing stringent standards of the Washington Accord, the following are, year of accreditation and programs accredited :

    1. Mapua Institute of Technology (June 2014) CE, EE, ME, Computer Eng'g
    2. De La Salle Univ. Taft, Manila (Sept. 2014) ChE, CE, EE, ECE, Computer Eng'g
    3. UP Diliman (Nov. 2014) ChE, CE, EE, ECE, ME, Computer Eng'g
    4. Univ. of Santo Tomas (June 2015) ChE, CE, EE, ECE, Computer Eng'g
    5. Univ. of San Carlos Cebu (Sept. 2015) ChE, CE, EE, Computer Eng'g

Kung ako ang CEO dili nako tan-awn kung unsay rank sa imong university. I will gauge it on how good he asnwers my questions during interview plus psychological test result. Bisag maau ka mo answer it doesn't mean nga dawat naka I will check psychological test. If found out sa result nga wala kay teamwork useless imong rank sa university coz i will not hire you...hahaha...peace brothers.

Rest assured graduates of USC who have good marks in their TOR are not only academically competent but ethically, socially and personally sound and well prepared to compete globally. Carolinian engineers are preferred in multinational and big corporations here in the Phils. and abroad as well. Check with Makati Business Club and Asian Institute of Management their topnotch corporate executives in leading companies who hail from Cebu, many are Carolinians!

Para nako budget wise lang og nindot na quality, adto CIT. Kay pwerteng mahala gyuds USC labi na if kanang subjects na naa nay laboratories, gikamang nalang tawn sako mama og maau makahuman lang kos USC haha.

Its true mahal sa USC for engineering average tuition is about P70,000 to P80,000 per year depending sa imo load of laboratory subjects. Tuition sa USC similar sa UP Diliman ug Los Banos for full paying students. State university ang UP na pinaka daku budget sa national govt. Daghang Scholarships sa university, national government (Ched, Dost), big Corporations, private foundations, alumni associations abroad, etc. for honor students, working students and poor intelligent deserving scholars!
sa USC Talamban maka hands on tarung kay only 2 students per experiment / apparatus / equipment /machine/ instrument. Aircon classrooms, biggest library & learning center (separate 5 storey building), spacious & conducive Talamban campus with complete amenities, dormitories, food / mess hall, activity center, new modern Convention center, Stadium, and soon a new, bigger, state of the art and high tech School of Engineering building will be built in next 5 yrs. It will house an advanced technologies center with high tech laboratories & workshops for research & development, technology transfer & incubation in partnership w/ large companies and engineering schools in Phils, Singapore, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, US.

We hope the playing field of higher education in the Phils will be leveled up and more opportunities for deserving, intelligent, hard working students will be provided. This will entail more intervention from Phils govt in terms of policies, budget, incentives, regulations, etc.

University education in Phils is run mainly by Private sector where quantity of students are high to compensate low tuition / school fees. Quality in pure form can not be comprised by Quantity. While in business quantity is key to be viable hence the Economics of Scale allow prices/ tuition fees to be lowered. University education in the Phils is highly commercialized!

Whereas in State universities which subsidized by national govt especially UP high standards are kept and maintained by selective student admission & retention, high caliber faculty with Masters & PhDs abroad, updated laboratories and research facilities funded by DOST.

Thats why in USC modawat guihapon students na "conditional status" mga grades sa high school sciences, math, english below 80 ug result sa entrance exam naa ra sa borderline! Hinuon mga teachers sa Talamban puro man strict, its just normal half sa class will fail and eliminated. Its good USC administration gives authority to its teachers to fail students who do not perform and deserve to continue the academic program and are adviced to shift courses or transfer to other schools. In USC academic freedom is observed accordingly.
