Default AMD's new Athlon II X4 are "Deneb" (Phenoms)

Athlon II X4 and their unlockable 6mb L3 Cache!
"Get them while they're still not "Propus" based."

There have been reports that the first batch of Athlon II X4 620 and 630 are really derived from DENEB(phenom) cores... and not the new 95 watt PROPUS cores as posted by AMD.
Fudzilla - AMD confirms Deneb core in some Athlon IIs
AMD Released pictures of the PROPUS Core show that there are NO L3 Cache on the silicon dye.

Now, this was all made possible by:
    1). ACC "automatic clock calibration"
2). 1st batch of propus cores

Unlocking L3 would make the Athlon core instantly into Phenoms. and the L3 would help do its magic especially on multi threaded applications since the instruction sets are simply exchanged through the L3 cache and not pass through the system memory loop.

these babies can also do 3.0Ghz OC. but unlocking the L3 and OC would make TDP to almost 120~130 watts and hurt OC capability.

as good as it sounds, not all chips are unlockable. there are numerous discussions all over different enthusiast forums that this is a marketing strategy. not all chips unlock, so basically, its like a lottery -- someone gets a chip that unlocks and tells the world, the rest will flock to get the same processor hoping to get it unlocked as well.

kudos to AMD for such a clever strategy, though.

how bout i give you, a very interesting read? this is a little off-topic but i just couldn't bring myself to create a thread that echoes the news all over. anyway, here goes:
