Lightbulb GSAT / Dream TV experience and comparison

I was able to compare the GSAT satellite service with Dream TV.

    Monthly subscription (similar packages):
    - GSAT: 300 Pesos/month
    - Dream: 650 Pesos/month

    Satellites:
    - GSAT: NSS 11 at 108.2°E
    - Dream: Aguila II at 146.0°E

    Sound quality:
    - GSAT: overall a bad sound quality, some channels are loud, some are low volume, you keep adjusting the volume with your remote.
    - Dream: good sound quality, even volume on the channels

    Picture quality:
    - GSAT: quiet a bad picture quality, in fact, the worst I ever saw. Full of compression artifacts, looks like a 320x240 picture scaled up. Very blurry.
    - Dream: Medium picture quality, not that clear as cable tv, but acceptable even on a big TV (42")

    Decoder reception sensitivity
    - GSAT: Quiet good, even when raining just a little drop outs
    - Dream: When it is cloudy, you lost quickly the signal, which can last for hours

    Installation / Installer
    - GSAT: Friendly, explain most things
    - Dream: Friendly, can do "after work" adjustments for a lower fee

    Customer service
    - GSAT: No provided customer service, just the cell phone numbers of the agents
    - Dream: Customer service numbers are advertised and also on the smart card

    Web presents
    - GSAT: Very bad website, 1/2 finish, no channel line up available, in fact, almost no useful information
    - Dream: Good updated website, user friendly and professional

    Channel Line Up
    - GSAT: No idea, EVERY single list differs from other lists, no real information about the channels. All channel lists posted here at istorya are FALSE! There is NO Cinemax, there is NO Discovery channel, instead, there are Chinese channels, and Discovery science.
    - Dream: Actual channels match the channel line up on their website.

    Conclusion
When you need something cheap (both in subscription and in quality/service), go for GSAT.
If you need some professional Direct to home TV, go for dream. Customer service always responded VERY quick to any inquire.

My opinion: I do not recommend GSAT. Its a disappointment for me. We are living in a time where quality should improve, but GSAT picture quality is far below VCD, about VHS (except VHS is clearer).

In my own experience, the picture I got with skycable was much sharper then Dream, but you wont recognize it anymore after a while. And yes, dream is 650 because they do not have anymore HBO and Cinemax... so they lowered the subscription fee.

If you mean Cignal Satellite TV, yes, except Cignal would be much better.
See their channel lineup here: Cignal on NSS 11 at 108.2°E - LyngSat

They also have some HD channels...
