Default Yemeni plane crashes with 150 aboard - Cebuana F/A one of the Victims

(from CNN) -- A Yemeni airliner with 150 people aboard has crashed in the Indian Ocean off the island nation of Comoros, an aviation official in Yemen's capital said Tuesday.

The aircraft, from the national airline Yemenia, was en route to Comoros when it crashed about an hour from its destination, an airline official said. There was no immediate news of the fate of those on board.

The Airbus A310 was en route from Yemen's capital Sanaa to *****i, the capital of Comoros, and most of the passengers were Comoran, an official at Sanaa's international airport said. *****i is about 2,900 kilometers (1,800 miles) south of Yemen, off the east coast of Africa.

"We don't know if there are any survivors among the 150 people on the plane," Comoros Vice President Idi Nadhoim told Reuters.

This is too sad but also too scary. What's happening?

Is it possible to crash a plane remotely? I think this is the work of a terrorist group. This group has found a way to crash a plane without them having to actually be INSIDE the plane itself to do it. It saves them time and money, it's more convenient and way, way less messy.

So, is it possible to remotely crash a plane? This is my official story and I'm sticking to it.

actually you cannot always blame the terrorist group, although there are some instances nga tinood, pero much truthful is "SIGNOS" rajud na xa, and consider also the weather, lahi ang weather sa ibabaw compare diri sa ubos.

DISCLAIMER: My post doesn't serve to intice a discussion about terrorism/hijackings and on this particular plane's possible reasons for crashing--I'm merely responding directly to Dorothea's post.

Remotely crash a plane? Quite improbable (but not impossible). Remotely detonate a bomb inside a plane? Possible, but you'd have to be quite close to the plane to trigger the bomb. Since modern day airliners cruise between 30-37,000 ft., you'd have to detonate the bomb just after takeoff or before landing (i.e. while the plane is closer to the ground). But, there's an issue. Someone has to plant the bomb inside the plane itself, without anyone detecting the bomb, which offers its own set of problems. Thus, a more plausible way to bring down a plane if you're outside of a plane, is simple--use shoulder-fired SAMs.

How does turbulence bring an aircraft down? Doesn't it interfere with the plane's electronic, electromagnetic signal/power whatchatmacallit? It makes the plane lose power completely and crash. What if Dr. Evil came up with a device that interferes with the plane's power? shutting it off completely? Doesn't seem far-fetched to me. But of course, I know nothing about planes.
