Up for this one!
Please help us support Sabongero. A new film with popular Manila-based actors is now being made, and it's also going to be called Sabungero. Not to pin down any movie, but having almost same titles may create confusion later on. The Sabongero director, Janice Perez, is hoping to submit the movie to other film festivals soon. (As mentioned, this has already gained a spot in the Short Film Corner in Cannes Festival.)
Janice is already in the process of communicating with the Sabungero director, but let's still keep our our comments of support coming just to let them know that even if the movie is short, it's still has the potential of creating impact, particularly to Cebuano indie film making. (and we're wishing that the decision later will be win-win.)
There will be another screening for the movie (the first one was held on March 13) to be held in Turtle's Nest. Hope you can keep yourself posted.
You can also share the link of the website to your friends and family, especially to those who are abroad.
Thanks!

Yes, I have seen this film last March 13 during the first screening. I'm glad to hear there's a second screening as well because I liked it.
amazing. any screening here in cebu?
This is great news!
I'm looking forward to the second screening.
The name of the protagonist is Boyax... I think that sounds very Cebuano...
I think a cousin of mine will be able to relate with this film since he's also into "sabong".
There is supposed to be a second screening coming up. I'm not yet sure of the definite date.Let's just keep ourselves posted.

MANILA, Philippines—Four Filipino films have been included in the official lineup of the 62nd Cannes International Film Festival, a first for the country.
This “historic” development was confirmed by three filmmakers whose films were chosen as entries in the world’s premier movie festival that will take place on May 13-14 in the French coastal city.
Three independent films made it to the Official Selection, in three different categories: Brillante Mendoza’s “Kinatay (The Execution of P)” in the Main Competition; Raya Martin’s “Independencia” in the Un Certain Regard section; and Raya Martin and Adolfo Alix Jr.’s “Manila” in the Special Screenings category.
“Sabongero,” by Filipino-American Janice Y. Perez, was selected for the Short Film Corner.
