When Sinulog and 2010 Mix Together
Ah, Sinulog. The festival in Cebu devoted to the Santo Nino. And yes, another opportunity for 2010 wannabes to spread the “greetings”.
During the Sinulog procession last Saturday (wherein I attended), some politicians took the time to “greet” Cebuanos with some happy Sinulog greetings. Of course, you should know better than to think it’s just a simple greeting…right?
Anyway, here’s a list of those politicians who made their move:
- Joey de Venecia - Tarpaulins. The one I saw was in Gorordo Ave. First off, he ain’t a public official, so why take the time to greet Cebuanos that way? Second, he’s a ZTE witness, and he’s giving Sinulog greetings. Before the procession, though, the Sinulog staff took off those “tarpaulin greetings” since they know better.
- Sen. Manny Villar - TV commercial and tarpaulin in Junquera St. Should I also point out that his TV commercial only shows pictures of himself, and NONE of them have any relation to Sinulog?
- Rep. Riza Hontiveros-Baraquiel - Tarpaulin near A. Villanueva St. Hmm…let’s see how this develops.
- Sen. Rodolfo Biazon & Rep. Ruffy Biazon - Tarpaulin between the big McDonald’s-Osmena Blvd. branch and the small Jollibee-Osmena Blvd. branch. Since Ruffy is a possible senatorial bet of the Liberal Party, you can’t help but smell something fishy about this one.
- Sen. Chiz Escudero - TV commercial. Never saw it. You win this round, Chiz!
- Sen. Mar Roxas - Small cardboard 2009 calendar that also doubles as a fan (see top). Too bad I got hold of it, and now it’s in the Votercooler. (See image here.)
