By now, everyone has probably figured out Clockwork's Combo...
Cast last skill (hook) to bring you next to the enemy... Then cast skill 1 (damage/ministun), 2 (trap) and 3 (missile) to damage enemy while both of you are trapped... Hit hit hit... Then if enemy escapes, cast skill 3 (missile).

Items I find useful...
* Boots of travel -- combo (escape): skill 2 (trap) then travel to escape
* Vanguard -- for early game life increase which is very useful when trapping yourself with the enemy
* Heart/satanic -- extra life is useful for mid and late game; lifesteal in case opponent is also battle build
* Radiance -- extra damage while being trapped with enemy; good for chasing heroes considering he has high base speed
* Manta Style/MKB -- helps you kill the enemy faster during the trap combo
* Dagon -- in case enemy is still alive after the trap combo
