    TWIN LAKES
    Lake Danao and Lake Balinsasayaw
    Sibulan, Negros Oriental

An amazing work of nature’s art are these two inland bodies of water amid lush tropical forests, with dense canopies, cool and refreshing air, crystal clear mineral waters with brushes and grasses in all hues of green is located in the interiors of Sibulan Negros Oriental. The Twin Lakes are composed of Lake Balinsasayaw and Lake Danao which is situated at 1,500 meters above sea level and are located 20 kilometers west of the municipality of Sibulan. Spend the rest of the day kayaking, boating, swimming or just taking in the natural beauty of the Twin Lakes which is by the way located on a protected Natural Park.

    ...NOT!

    HINAKPAN HILLS
    Brgy. Hinakpan, Guihulngan, Negros Oriental

Hinakpan Hills are situated in the peak of Guihulngan so one can feel the extreme coolness of the air while viewing its beauty as well as that of the other places such as the Canlaon Volcano. Unlike the Chocolate Hills of Bohol, no two hills are alike in Hinakpan. Geologic forces cast all 237 limestone peaks in unique shapes and sizes. The picturesque barangay of Hinakpan was named after the abundant hardwood takpan trees in the area.

    SANDBAR

    SANDBAR
    Manjuyod, Negros Oriental

Manjuyod Sandbar is a 7 kilometer stretch of pristine shoreline. Gleaming like a mirage in a desert, Sandbar is an unbroken stretch of white sand in the middle of the sea that appears only during low tide. But there’s nothing illusory about this piece of land. Once the boat docks, tourists disembark and frolic under the sun. Cottages on stilts provide temporary refuge for fatigued sun-worshippers and beachcombers.

    Apo Island Adventure

We went to Apo Island last year for a summer getaway. Here are some of the snapshots I've taken.

Apo Island from a distant view

    Boat ride from Malatapay

On our way a dolphin have crossed our path. A good sign.

    Getting closer...

    and closer...

    closer.... (the excitement is mounting)

The white sand beach and spectacular rock formation can now be clearly seen

Lots of tourists, both foreign and local

    Gorgeous rock

The eagle has landed... the sea is so clear that you could view its bottom

Inland perspective: the sea and the beach

White beach made of limestone and corals

    A lot of divers

    Marine Sanctuary

There are different parts of the island to dive and snorkel. The best one suited for snorkeling would be the Marine Sanctuary.

    Left side of the sanctuary

    Right side of the sanctuary

    Snorkeling

Believe it or not but only 2 meters away from the shore there are already hundreds of fishes that will swim with you. I'm not familiar with its names but what I could recognized are the clown fish (thanks to Nemo) and locally knowned fish as "molmol". It really amazes me how to be in close contact with these large number of fish in just shallow waters.

The true beauty of Apo Island lies not much its topography but rather beneath its surface where an underwater paradise exists. Unfortunately though my camera is not built to capture its hidden beauty. So here's a succeeding post that will give you a glimpse of a myriad of colors from beautiful marine lives flourishing in this paradise of the deep.
