Default Apps that use Video cards? (not for gaming!)

what programs that will take advantage of the power of a 8800gtx? and no, windows vista "bling! look at the 3d windows move" edition does not count.

im afraid there is no such program that will take advantage on 8800gtx

The images you see on your monitor are made of tiny dots called pixels. At most common resolution settings, a screen displays over a million pixels, and the computer has to decide what to do with every one in order to create an image. To do this, it needs a translator -- something to take binary data from the CPU and turn it into a picture you can see. Unless a computer has graphics capability built into the motherboard, that translation takes place on the graphics card.

i believe 3d rendering programs should do it. i think it helps process things faster. especially in the detailed 3d modeling.

i think photoshop still is cpu @ memory bound.

you need to have a quadro card which is 3X more expensive & can only help if you want to have a accurate display of mapping location.
actual rendering is done in the cpu.

im still waiting for programmers to rework thier code to have to gpu help in trans coding video, ripping wav files to mp3s, file compression or anything that tax the processor.
