    Default what is the Difference between Absolute and Relative URL?

    Good day, First of all I want to thank you for your time for reading this, I just want to have a clarification, I know the basic of what is absolute URL and relative but my problem is that it state here that absolute URL itself has no bearing on the location of the actual file referenced--wheter it is in a Web page on your server or on mine...an absolute URL will look exactly the same: pwede ninyo og bisaya lang pag ingon para ma sabtan gyud

    @eax ... you have the two backwards.

    Relative means relative to the domain name you are currently are. Say if I write the HTML for http://www.bla.com, if I wanted to link to a an image in bla.com, I'd only have to link to it by ...

    Code:
    <a href="bla/this_is_an_image.jpg">
    and the browser would know that that image is actually at http://www.bla.com/bla/this_is_an_image.jpg. Again, relative by definition is how it relates to the current domain ... hence relative.

    relative - "something having, or standing in, some relation to something else."

    Absolute means the complete URL including the host.server.tld (www.server.com). Going back to my example of writing HTML for http://www.bla.com ... if I wanted to link to an image on a different domain such as http://www.google.com ... I would have to use an absolute URL such as

    Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
