    AMD considers buying Ageia
    http://www.custompc.co.uk/news/60168...ing-ageia.html

    Quote:
Now that communications between AMD and Havok have broken down, AMD has admitted that it’s considering buying Ageia, if the price is right. AMD’s head of developer relations, Richard Huddy, told Custom PC that ‘we’ve had that discussion, yes. It’s a discussion that goes round every three months – someone turns to me and says ‘why don’t we buy Ageia?’ and I go through the arguments about why we should and why we shouldn’t.’

    And it gets more confusing...

NVIDIA to Adapt AMD Chipsets to Enable CrossFire X Features on NVIDIA GPUs
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=166529

Things are indeed looking up for AMD as of late. NVIDIA recently unveiled plans to adapt the AMD MCP78S chipset into their motherboards, which will enable some CrossFire X features on NVIDIA chipsets. The first feature to run on these new hybrid motherboards is Hybrid SLI. Like Hybrid CrossFire, Hybrid SLI will allow for the dynamic switching of onboard and independent graphics. During normal operation, the computer will run off onboard graphics, saving energy. When the user pops in an extreme game, the machine will automatically switch graphics operations over to the much more powerful graphics card. These features will be stuck into select upcoming NVIDIA nForce 780i motherboards, which will support Socket AM2 and AM2+ CPUs over a 2600MT/s HyperTransport 3.0 bus, six 3Gb/s SATA drives, 12 USB ports and Gigabit Ethernet.

    NVIDIA 8800 GX2 to Re-try Quad SLI?
    http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpo...38&postcount=1

When NVIDIA Released the GeForce 7950GX2, it was snatched up by hardware enthusiasts hoping to get their hands on the first quad-GPU solution ever. The result was buggy, glitched, and not too much better than a dual card solution. However, times have changed, and technology has improved. NVIDIA is touting Triple SLI, while AMD's Crossfire X allows for four independent graphics cards to run in one system. To counter the upcoming AMD HD 3870X2, NVIDIA may be working on re-visiting Quad SLI the same way they did last time: by sandwiching two PCBs into one physical card, eliminating the possibility of replacing stock cooling.

For those waiting for the R670 cards...

a clear pic of R680 & some specs

Here’s a clear pic of R680. Pls keep in mind that this is a engineer sample. There’s already some pic about this sexy card earlier.

Both cores’ frequency are 777MHz, the same as HD 3870’s. And R680 is using 1GB GDDR3 memory. Source indicate that the retail version’s frequency is still unidentified.

We guess the two big fin sets are still using HD 3870’s old one. So it is a copper-based-aluminum-fin design. So the two fin set and a bigger fan powerful enough to handle two RV670XT GPU?

kuyaw man pud ug market strategy ang AMD, long term investment ang ila... wise enough..

they now have the bios to overclock the card to over 860mhz... they just don't have the flash tool to flash the bios... hehehe!

then they need to work overtime for this....

they already have the flash tool... available na sa Techpowerup. there are 3870 owners who already reach 900mhz core speed. problem is... some are not stable... they need voltage adjustment tool... like ATI Tool
