Moments of silence, long pauses. I really don't believe in mental telepathy, but somehow it was working during that night. My soul was holding her arms already but my physical body did not recognize the syntax sent from the neurons of my brain.


And I suddenly utter this words..

Chapter XII


"Goodnight"..

And we headed back to the elevator. But I guess that was the moment of all moments, I held her left hand pinky. She turned, fronting me. We paused.

Again, the electrifying sensation intensified. I can feel my self shivering, my face thickened. And quickly, I kissed her. Just a soft kiss. To confirm that she liked my kiss, I kissed her again. And her tears were dropping by her cheek. I don't have any handkerchief, I couldn't afford to buy an Armando Carouso. I just wiped her tears off with my thumb. Now, it's guilt that I felt more.

"Ngano nihilak man ka?" "Aren't you happy?"

"I am" she replied. "And I'm also afraid that you might just take advantage of what I felt.."

I kept holding her hands. And I told her, "This could be a start of something new.."
Her face lightened up as I kept glancing at her. She smiled, and the way she looked at me, it was very meaningful. And I never let go of her hands.

We sat on a cement division. I was leaning on a column post, and I positioned her leaning on me. I wrapped her with my arms as the night goes colder. And our body is getting warmer I guess.

Then feel of guilt was gone. We continued talking about ourselves. We both know what was the real score between us that very moment.

Time pass by and it was 3:00 AM.

"I should go by now", I told her. But she never let go of my hands too.
